Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) was established after merging Kaunas University of Medicine and Lithuanian Veterinary Academy with roots in medical studies go back to the 1920s. Nowadays LSMU is one of the best and the largest institutions of higher education for biomedical sciences not only in Lithuania but also in the Baltic States with almost 100 years of academic experience successfully integrates studies (both in biomedicine and agriculture), research and clinical practice.
Clinical teaching and research are mainly based on cooperation with the largest health care institution in the Baltic States – the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno klinikos which provides specialized health care services to patients from all over the country and abroad. Starting its activity in 1940 the Hospital today comprises 4 affiliated hospitals, 38 profiled clinics with the total number of beds exceeding 2400.
The Nursing and care department will bring to this project their expertise in clinical education of students that was gained during national and international projects and individual research in the field of students’ mentoring. The expertise includes development and implementation of continuing professional development courses for clinical nurses, preparation of teaching materials for students and mentors, distributing of scientific results.

The Research Unit of Nursing Science and Health Management is a part of the Faculty of Medicine at University of Oulu, which is an essential part of the Life Sciences Campus Kontinkangas and is situated next to the University Hospital of Oulu. University of Oulu internationally recognized university including 16000 students and 3000 paid employees. The studies in the research unit offer graduates a wide range of career opportunities on different demanding professional paths in clinical expertise, research, administration, education and planning as well as in other expert tasks. The studies are multidisciplinary in the degree programmes in Master of Health Sciences including Nursing Sciences, Health Management Sciences, Teacher Education Programme in Health Sciences.
